BLUNDERBUSS, (PRIVATE CONTRACT STYLE)

- This Blunderbuss is from the mid to late 1700's. It is referred to as a Coaching blunderbuss, as the brass barrel is only 14" long for maneuverability within the confines of a coach. Caliber .69.

- This particular style blunderbuss, would have been used not only by coachmen, but also Gentlemen, ship Captains and military officers, who could afford a slightly fancier and higher quality arm.

- The lock is smaller than a military style blunderbuss, and the wrist of the stock is checkered.

- This style blunderbuss, undoubtedly was used by many privateers and officers during the French & Indian War, Rev. War, and right into the Napoleonic and 1812 period.
